My wife and I stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn for two nights in mid-July 2026, and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We stayed in a fourth-floor harbor/ocean view room, and the view was absolutely incredible. From our balcony we could watch wildlife, the beach, boats coming and going, and the beautiful Monterey Bay. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better view. One thing worth mentioning is that the rooms do not have air conditioning. For us, that wasn’t an issue at all because the coastal breeze was perfect, and we kept the balcony door open most of the time. That said, if you’re a very light sleeper, the fountain below and the sounds of the ocean can be fairly noticeable at night. One of our favorite parts of the stay was waking up each morning to breakfast delivered right to our room. We’re not fancy people, but enjoying the included breakfast on our balcony while watching the bay come to life was one of the highlights of our trip. The room itself is a little older, but it was very well maintained. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the spacious bathroom with the large double vanity was a great bonus. The location was excellent. It’s a little farther from the busiest part of Cannery Row, but that actually made it feel quieter while still being within easy walking distance. We could walk about 10 minutes north to the restaurants and aquarium or about 10 minutes south to Old Fisherman’s Wharf. For the price compared to many of the other oceanfront hotels closer to the aquarium, we felt this was an outstanding value. During our stay we relaxed on the balcony, went whale watching, visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and took several walks along Cannery Row. It was the perfect home base for exploring Monterey. I would highly recommend the Monterey Bay Inn to anyone looking for an oceanfront stay. It’s certainly not inexpensive, but for Monterey, it’s an excellent value if you want a balcony overlooking the bay. We would absolutely stay here again.

Traveled to the west to attend a wedding. Stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn. The staff was professional, courteous, and friendly. Plenty of parking on site with easy in/out access to Cannery Row. The Inn has a pool. The room with "the view" exceeded our expectations (see pics). The sound made by the bay/ocean at night was relaxing. The view from the balcony of the boats, the seals, the sunset, the sunrise, and the bay was incredible. Breakfast was brought to the room and was delicious. As for location, we were within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and historical sites. As we walked along Cannery Row, we imagined with ease what John Steinbeck wrote about in his book. Overall, it's was a memorable stay and we would not hesitate to stay at the Monterey Bay Inn again.

Such a wonderful place to stay. Walking distance from several restaurants which are so good along with shops and a coffee shop. We had an ocean view room. So clean and the staff were so kind and eager to Help. We received a beautiful breakfast which was brought right to our room. Can’t say enough about this place. Worth every penny

Beautiful views from the balcony at the head of Cannery Row. Rooms are very nice and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Two hot tubs one of which is on the roof overlooking the bay. Water could have been a little hotter though.

Oceanfront room was perfect. Spacious, clean, comfortable, great view. Location is awesome, minutes away from Steinbeck plaza, but itself in a not very busy block. Appreciated in-room delivered breakfast (even though it wasn't very big). Would recommend to bring the slippers, the hotel provides only the robes, and the balcony floor is chill.
