We spent a couple of days over New Year's Eve at the Monterey Bay Inn. I booked a harbor (ocean view) according to my confirmation email. Our room was a park/street view with the harbor visible if one leaned over the railing. So, we went back to the front desk. The staff could not have been nicer and moved our room to a harbor view. We were very happy with the views, the bed and the room. The hotel offers a "Pillow Menu" which was new to me- nice touch! We didn't need to change our pillows as those on the bed were lovely. The room top hot tub was lovely: clean, great views, and the perfect temperature. The included breakfast was healthy and tasty, It was so nice to have it delivered and then the tray taken away. I felt so relaxed and definitely like I was on an actual vacation. HEAVEN! Monterey is one of our happy places. We go there at least once a year. There is so much natural beauty and the community has done an outstanding job protecting their natural resources & providing access to public beaches and walking trails.

What a jewel this place is. The oceanfront rooms are spectacular! I had a bit of a misunderstanding with the 800 number reservation customer service line and was quite frustrated in regards to a price guarantee discrepancy. Afterwards, I phoned Assistant general manager Stacy Lee and she rectified the situation and delivered excellent customer service. She is a real asset to the management team. My wife and I are celebrating 20 years together and have always wanted to stay at this hotel. It was well worth the wait. Many people claim the Monterrey Plaza as the "best" location to stay and I must admit we thought the same. No more. The Monterrey Bay Inn has the best oceanfront experience hands down. Friends of ours stayed there and while it's a fabulous hotel (if you get the ocean view rooms) it's just a bit more special at the Monterrey Bay Inn. The ocean front rooms are private and literally "over" the water. It's like being on a cruise ship without the cramped accommodations. The views are spectacular and the rooms perfectly serviceable and comfortable. So much so that it easily overcomes the lack of onsite dining and spa services. They have a sister property (Casa Munrus) that offers excellent spa services and there are many walkable dining options near by as the location is right in the heart of Monterey. Skip the Intercontinental and Monterey Plaza and book a ocean front room at Monterey Bay Inn. Then invite those that booked elsewhere over to see what they missed out on! Much like the Dream Inn is the prefect Santa Cruz hotel, Monterey Bay Inn is the perfect Monterey hotel. Thank you Stacy Lee, you made our special getaway perfect! We really appreciate your customer service skills and helping us book the perfect stay for our Monterey getaway!

Everything about our visit exceeded our expectations. The room and bathroom was spacious, views are amazing, and staff was on point. I never expect much from a 'Continental Breakfast' but here you select what you want the night before and it is delivered to your room. We will be back.

For the price I thought the room felt luxurious and view was beautiful. Parking was handy and there's a lot within walking distance like shopping and restaurants. Beach is nearby but it was December so not an option. Would definitely recommend.

Nice central location for cannery row and fisherman wharf, everything thing in walking distance. We saw otters and seals from our room balcony. Room were nice. Bed was a little hard for my taste.
