Great location for easy access to pier, aquarium and food!

We chose the Monterey Bay Inn for our one night stay in Monterey for their location, the included breakfast, and the self-parking. With a baby, we have a lot of stuff when on a road trip, and I just don't like dealing with valet and access to my car when we might need to run and get something. The location was perfect because it was about a 10-15 minute stroll to the aquarium and about the same to Fisherman's Wharf. Self-parking for $23 is easy and right under the hotel and we didn't have to deal with gates, entry cards, or anything like that. We got there really early after driving in from SF and I thought I would just park the car and just head to the aquarium, but I guess they weren't full and allowed us to check in! With a baby, that was such a pleasant surprise to be able to get into the room, feed and change him, unload our stuff so we wouldn't have to deal with it later. The Inn only has 49 rooms and three floors of rooms. We were on the 3rd and chose a Cannery Row view for cost savings. If you plan on staying in the room during the day, it can be a bit noisy, but since we were going to be out all day and leaving the next morning, I didn't really want to pay extra for a view. We still got a balcony and it was great for our baby to be able to people and car watch. The room was clean and the bathroom was huge, but I think it might have been a handicapable bathroom because it had bars in the shower. Fine by me because it was great for our small tub that we had for the baby and plenty of room everywhere. The hubs kept commenting on how big the room was and I think it was the configuration that did make it feel roomy with the bed facing the balcony. They don't have cribs there, but that's okay since we had our own Pack n Play and as mentioned before, the room was large enough. The decor isn't a modern look, but it was fine for us and what was most important to us was that everything was clean. They had Aveda amenities in the bathroom, but I wish they did have liquid body soap instead of the bar soap. Other than that, our stay was great, check out was a breeze and Kairee (sorry, didn't get to see your name badge!) at the front desk was professional and kind. I've already recommended it to my friends who asked where I stayed!

Good location, lovely view, and positive experience

We stayed on the top floor, with bay view in a spacious, well-designed room. There was a lovely balcony to sit on and enjoy an afternoon cocktail, and inside we had a sitting area with 2 comfortable chairs and TV. The room had a king-sized bed, desk and a beverage station with refrigerator and coffee-maker. The bathroom had a spacious double vanity with a tub/shower combo, and a private water closet. The hotel is not on Cannery Row, and so was relatively quiet at night, but still an easy walk to the main attractions and numerous restaurants. We also had no problem in finding our way to the 17-mile drive around Pebble Beach or going to Big Sur. The only negative was a bit of elevator repair which made us walk the stairs, but that just helped burn off a few calories from some wonderful restaurant experiences!

BOOM - That just happened!

What a great experience we had at Monterey Bay Inn! After planning a trip on a whim we stumbled across this gem of a hotel. Bethany (Beth) at the front desk greeted us with her charismatic smile. She got us settled in and on our way. She made us feel very at home and was beyond welcoming. Thank you Beth, kudos to YOU! Great hospitality. The room was clean, tidy, and had a great view. Overall, it exceeded our expectations for such a last-minute planned trip. I would unquestionably recommend it. Keep up the great job Monterey Bay Inn...(you already mastered the art of hiring the right people.) -O San Jose

Very nice hotel with a view!

After 4 days of breathing all the smoke from the recent fires in Sonoma, we booked 2 nights here. I chose the bay view as a compromise between city and ocean views. I actually like the view better than just looking out to sea. We looked out over the bay and the Coast Guard pier. The staff were very professional. The room was clean and spacious. A continental breakfast is delivered to your room. All in all, a very relaxing stay.

Perfect place for couples trip

What a lovely place. We were in room 408 with a bay view, luckily unlike some of the other bay view rooms our view was mostly of the bay. Breakfast was nice, the staff were amazing. We had no complaints. Ask for a fourth floor room they are the best and know that if you want a true view of the ocean you have to get an ocean view room. The bay view was perfect for us. Also this place is perfect in terms of location. Halfway between both Cannery Row and the wharf's.

Heavenly Haven of Bliss

WHY DID WE SELECT MBI: We have stayed here twice in the last year, in March 2015 and April 2016. The room is quiet (at the very end of the hall), calm and peaceful. We didn't turn the TV on for our entire stay. We don't come to Monterey for the activities, but for the peace and absolute tranquility of hearing the lap of waves, sea lions, cormorants and seagulls. The hotel is the last (or the first) one on the quiet end of the Row. ESPECIALLY HELPFUL STAFF: Martin, facilities janitor/supervisor acted as our porter and cheerfully unloaded and later reloaded our multiple pieces of luggage both times we visited, and put them in the correct places in our room. Top notch service. We tipped him lavishly as we are both disabled, parking in the handicapped zone. You'd be surprised at how many hotels no longer provide even this basic service. There was also some trouble with another hotel guest smoking on their balcony on the floor below ours. After calling the front desk, this was promptly resolved, as for us it is quite deadly to inhale due to respiratory symptoms. Quinn, Monica and all the other great folks at the desk who brought us signed cards and bottles of wine and chocolates knew how to make us feel oh so special! The homemade chocolate chips and fresh apples in the lobby are a nice touch.

Another great stay at Monterey Bay Inn

Stayed in a Bay view room at Monterey Bay Inn for five nights. Service was professional and friendly - room was immaculate. This is a great place to stay in Monterrey. Second floor rooms are great. This is the second time we have stayed at the INN and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Monterey.

Great view, lots of nice extras

First time here. Picked this hotel due to proximity to the pier for whale watching and Cannery Row. Beautiful hotel. great view from our Bay View room. Nice touch to have breakfast delivered to your room. Picked out what you want the night before and it shows up at your door when you want it. Has a very nice roof top hot tub that over looks Monterey Bay and one on the 2nd floor too. Fresh baked cookies and lemonade in the lobby. Cannery Row is literally right around the corner and Fisherman's Pier is a very nice walk away. Great covered parking. If in the area, we will stay here again.

Amazing stay

Took a trip with no idea what I was doing and decided to head to Monterey and booked a room on my way there willing to pay extra for the ocean view...totally worth it. Checked in, and the Staff was ridiculously friendly. The most accommodating and the room was gorgeous. I was only there one night, and I wished it was for longer. I think her name was Chris, working that night, and she was probably the friendliest person I met my entire time in California. I look forward to another stay should I end up anywhere near Monterey in the future

Leisure trip

I loved this boutique hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I loved the romantic ambience of the room with the ocean and harbor views. It was next to Cannery Row, making it easy to walk to the shops
