We stayed here two nights before heading to napa. The views are amazing, open the door for a fresh cool sea breeze. Close to the aquarium. Close to Carmel. We had a great stay here.

How I miss this place and the sea traffic - sea lions, otters, star fish and so on. We had an ocean front room (room was very spacious with a fireplace and plenty of lounging-around areas) and our balcony view was spectacular. The front desk team is warm and friendly and their recommendations were spot on - they enhanced our stay here. You can't beat the location and service. --Bill Bell, Charleston, SC

Location, Location, location. Need I say more? Quite and clan at a reasonable price. Breakfast served in room every morning. A true breath of fresh air when it comes to service. I would personally recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn for two nights in mid-July 2026, and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We stayed in a fourth-floor harbor/ocean view room, and the view was absolutely incredible. From our balcony we could watch wildlife, the beach, boats coming and going, and the beautiful Monterey Bay. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better view. One thing worth mentioning is that the rooms do not have air conditioning. For us, that wasn’t an issue at all because the coastal breeze was perfect, and we kept the balcony door open most of the time. That said, if you’re a very light sleeper, the fountain below and the sounds of the ocean can be fairly noticeable at night. One of our favorite parts of the stay was waking up each morning to breakfast delivered right to our room. We’re not fancy people, but enjoying the included breakfast on our balcony while watching the bay come to life was one of the highlights of our trip. The room itself is a little older, but it was very well maintained. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the spacious bathroom with the large double vanity was a great bonus. The location was excellent. It’s a little farther from the busiest part of Cannery Row, but that actually made it feel quieter while still being within easy walking distance. We could walk about 10 minutes north to the restaurants and aquarium or about 10 minutes south to Old Fisherman’s Wharf. For the price compared to many of the other oceanfront hotels closer to the aquarium, we felt this was an outstanding value. During our stay we relaxed on the balcony, went whale watching, visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and took several walks along Cannery Row. It was the perfect home base for exploring Monterey. I would highly recommend the Monterey Bay Inn to anyone looking for an oceanfront stay. It’s certainly not inexpensive, but for Monterey, it’s an excellent value if you want a balcony overlooking the bay. We would absolutely stay here again.

Really great place. Parking plentiful though a little tight in the underground spaces, so make sure you can park well if you’ve a larger vehicle. Rooms feel deluxe with large bed, lovely balcony with potted geranium, and views over the harbour and seals/otters. Lovely bathroom and toilet behind a separate door. Also has complimentary breakfast to be brought to your room every morning. How glorious! Hot tub on the roof is fab - warm and clean and excellent views! Staff seem very friendly and helpful. They have pairs of binoculars to borrow behind reception (ask) so you can watch the wildlife from your balcony. Be warned that parking is an extra charge but all in all a really great hotel. Easy access to wharfs (for boat trips and kayak/bike hire) and easy walk to Cannery Row for food and gifts.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests—they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace—it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful room with an amazing harbor view.

Stayed here one night with the oceanfront view balcony and couldn't have been happier. Location is very central, views from the room were top notch, and staff was friendly and helpful. We got the breakfast served to our room which was basic but super fresh and very enjoyable. We enjoyed it so much we made a second reservation on our way back up the coast and had the panoramic harbor bay views this time around. Just as nice, but I did prefer the oceanfront view more for privacy. The harbor views are exposed to the walking paths and streets so it's not as secluded. The hotel staff even remembered we were there a few days before and was kind enough to send up a bottle of wine for a birthday as well, which was a great touch. Would highly recommend Also if you want to hear/see sea lions, you can't beat this location
