From our arrival to check-out, everything was perfect. Merl was wonderful at check-in and out. The room is nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable, the bathroom has plenty of storage, and the view of the bay is gorgeous. It’s location is perfect in between Cannery Row attractions and restaurants and Fisherman’s Wharf. The continental breakfast was fresh and delivered right on time. We would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn on a college trip with my son. We happened upon this place when we made a last minute change in plans. The Inn is wonderful. Bethany at the desk felt like a long term friend - ensuring we had everyone we needed. The Inn’s location is perfect - walking distance to the best sights and restaurants in Monterey. The two hot tubs - one on the second floor where there is also a fire - and one on the fourth floor - were a really nice surprise. The wildlife and beautiful water views were lovely. I highly recommend staying here!

The outside of this property may look a little plain in the pictures, but the rooms are lovely. We had a private balcony from which we could hear the surf crashing and view the bay with its marine life. We spotted at least one otter each day, and on the morning of our departure there was a regular "otter party" of 9 within sight. Each room has a pair of binoculars to help with viewing. You can have coffee or tea delivered to your room each morning along with continental breakfast. That was fine for me but my husband prefers a heartier breakfast, which we found elsewhere. Also, the bread served with the continental breakfast was mostly sweet rolls, which I do not care for. If we return to Monterey, we would definitely choose this place again!

We found the Monterey Bay Inn after an unfortunate experience with another hotel and last minute found this hidden gem. Rooms were spacious, clean and the views are outstanding. My kids watched the sea lions, birds, otters, whales and lots of boats for hours on the balcony. The breakfast delivered to our room every morning was great and the service staff is so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a great place on Cannery Row.

We stayed here as our second stop on our PCH road trip. I’d booked on the basis of location and TR reviews. Our whole experience was outstanding from check in to check out. We were greeted warmly and checked in swiftly. Our room was spacious with gorgeous bathroom and amenities. And the view over to the harbour was stunning. It was lovely to sit and listen to the ocean and the wildlife from our balcony or bed. Breakfast was served to the room as ordered and fruit yoghurt coffee and pastries made a welcome change. It was a great relaxed way to start the day, There is complimentary coffee in the reception in the mornings and a plate of cookies in the afternoon. Location was great with plenty of bars restaurants etc within 10-15 minute walk. We were very sorry to leave Monterey and the Monterey Bay Inn.

Had yet another lovely stay here in Monterey. This is a super cute inn with excellent staff. My family and I loved our room overlooking the magnificent Monterey bay. We fell asleep to the sounds of crashing waves and awoke to the sounds of marine life. They also provided us with a pair of binoculars to view the sea life. My daughter really enjoyed this feature. It was such a nice and relaxing stay. The beds are very comfortable and the room was very neat and clean. Well worth the money spent. The breakfast was quite good with fresh hot coffee, tasty muffins, yogurt, and fresh fruit. It was so nice having this delivered to your door at the exact time you request. This adorable and elegant inn provided the family with a memorable experience while visiting beautiful Monterey. We look forward to returning!

Ok so the fixtures and fittings aren’t super modern. That’s part of the charm. We paid extra for the super duper view room. (315/415/215) and they’re so worth it in my opinion. The staff are super warm friendly and helpful. Breakfast is limited but delivered promptly and with charm. The front desk staff are super helpful and friendly. Topping me up with water pre run and just having a generally warm demeanour. The parking spaces are ample and it’s right by the Monterey spa and plaza. So you ca go to schooners their for a more elaborate breakfast or lunch and it’s in spitting distance. The perfect hotel to go with The Monterey Bay Whale watching team for a trip. It’s a 10-15 walk to the boat. Can’t wait to return here. And the bathrooms are the most spotlessly clean I’ve ever seen in a hotel of its age.

We chose the Monterey Bay Inn for our one night stay in Monterey for their location, the included breakfast, and the self-parking. With a baby, we have a lot of stuff when on a road trip, and I just don't like dealing with valet and access to my car when we might need to run and get something. The location was perfect because it was about a 10-15 minute stroll to the aquarium and about the same to Fisherman's Wharf. Self-parking for $23 is easy and right under the hotel and we didn't have to deal with gates, entry cards, or anything like that. We got there really early after driving in from SF and I thought I would just park the car and just head to the aquarium, but I guess they weren't full and allowed us to check in! With a baby, that was such a pleasant surprise to be able to get into the room, feed and change him, unload our stuff so we wouldn't have to deal with it later. The Inn only has 49 rooms and three floors of rooms. We were on the 3rd and chose a Cannery Row view for cost savings. If you plan on staying in the room during the day, it can be a bit noisy, but since we were going to be out all day and leaving the next morning, I didn't really want to pay extra for a view. We still got a balcony and it was great for our baby to be able to people and car watch. The room was clean and the bathroom was huge, but I think it might have been a handicapable bathroom because it had bars in the shower. Fine by me because it was great for our small tub that we had for the baby and plenty of room everywhere. The hubs kept commenting on how big the room was and I think it was the configuration that did make it feel roomy with the bed facing the balcony. They don't have cribs there, but that's okay since we had our own Pack n Play and as mentioned before, the room was large enough. The decor isn't a modern look, but it was fine for us and what was most important to us was that everything was clean. They had Aveda amenities in the bathroom, but I wish they did have liquid body soap instead of the bar soap. Other than that, our stay was great, check out was a breeze and Kairee (sorry, didn't get to see your name badge!) at the front desk was professional and kind. I've already recommended it to my friends who asked where I stayed!

We stayed on the top floor, with bay view in a spacious, well-designed room. There was a lovely balcony to sit on and enjoy an afternoon cocktail, and inside we had a sitting area with 2 comfortable chairs and TV. The room had a king-sized bed, desk and a beverage station with refrigerator and coffee-maker. The bathroom had a spacious double vanity with a tub/shower combo, and a private water closet. The hotel is not on Cannery Row, and so was relatively quiet at night, but still an easy walk to the main attractions and numerous restaurants. We also had no problem in finding our way to the 17-mile drive around Pebble Beach or going to Big Sur. The only negative was a bit of elevator repair which made us walk the stairs, but that just helped burn off a few calories from some wonderful restaurant experiences!

What a great experience we had at Monterey Bay Inn! After planning a trip on a whim we stumbled across this gem of a hotel. Bethany (Beth) at the front desk greeted us with her charismatic smile. She got us settled in and on our way. She made us feel very at home and was beyond welcoming. Thank you Beth, kudos to YOU! Great hospitality. The room was clean, tidy, and had a great view. Overall, it exceeded our expectations for such a last-minute planned trip. I would unquestionably recommend it. Keep up the great job Monterey Bay Inn...(you already mastered the art of hiring the right people.) -O San Jose
